A neon sign for On that had to hold up on camera
A sign that had to work not just on a wall but in front of a lens. That puts very different demands on the LEDs than an ordinary commission.
With a beer brand the challenge is not the shape but the colour: a brand colour on paper is a very different thing from that same colour as light.
Flying Fish has a recognisable house colour. The brief was to get that colour into neon — and that is where the problem starts, because a print colour and a light colour work in opposite directions.
A printed colour exists because ink takes light away. A neon colour exists because the LED emits light. So you cannot convert a CMYK value into an LED; you can only approach it and then trust your eye.
We started with samples: three flex colours in the right region, each bent into a thirty-centimetre piece and laid beside a printed swatch — once in daylight, once under bar lighting.
That second test decided it. The colour that came closest in daylight shifted under warm bar light into something that no longer read as the brand. We chose the version that is right in the room where the sign hangs, not the one that scored best against a neutral background.
The sign hangs where it was meant to and people who know the brand recognise the colour immediately. That is the only test that counts.
Since then we ask for a photo of the room on any brand work, including the lighting that will be on.

At a festival a neon sign is not decoration but equipment: it has to handle weather, transport, and thousands of people leaning on it for a photo.
Not a partnership, not a reseller, not a second company: it is the same business. The same workshop in Heusden-Zolder, the same bending table, the same people on the phone and the same signs.
We keep two sites because a Dutch customer asks different questions than a Belgian one — about iDEAL, about shipping across the border, about permits from their own council. Those answers belong where you go looking for them.
Send over your idea and you will have a price and a design today. Say yes and it is at your door in three working days.
We run a separate site for Belgium, so you get the right delivery times, payment methods and terms straight away.
